20 Jun 14th Annual Hats Off Luncheon: Celebration of Expression!
MIAMI, FL, May 18, 2016 – It was all about the Celebration of Expression at the 14th Annual Hats Off luncheon and fundraiser supporting Honey Shine, Inc., on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the Hilton Miami Downtown.
Ladies and Gentlemen from all along the eastern seaboard of the United States convened at the beautiful Hilton Downtown Miami to celebrate and applaud the work that Tracy Wilson Mourning, founder of Honey Shine, Inc., is doing to improve the lives of girls. The ladies enjoyed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while strolling through the enormous silent auction area, complete with clothing, beauty, home goods, travel & leisure, and sports memorabilia, while donning the latest in fashionable head wear.
The year 2016 is special for Honey Shine, Inc.; not only is it the 14th anniversary of this amazing organization but it is also the 10th Anniversary of Camp Honey Shine, a six-week summer program underwritten by the Carnival Foundation and hosted by the Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart in Coconut Grove, FL. Camp Honey Shine provides an environment for young girls to learn how to develop their own voice and sense of direction in life, by bringing them in contact with people, resources, and messages that are life changing. Camp Honey Shine helps girls build social skills, physical and mental skills, values, as well as a positive sense of self that will allow them to continue to be empowered to shine. Marla Wilson, National Executive Vice President states “This years event was an amazing display of the community connection to the foundational principals of philanthropy and mentorship. We are so grateful for the support of so many passionate sponsors, members and partners both locally and nationally.”
After a full midday event that included a silent auction, lunch, and a fashion show, the ladies were then treated to a post-lunch reception hosted by Centric with beverages provided on the ballroom terrace by Tanqueray, Zacapa Rum, and Veuve Clicquot. The ladies continued to network, and catch-up with friends in a relaxing atmosphere while being entertained by South Florida’s own songstress, Lisa Richards.
Proceeds from the annual event support several Honey Shine, Inc, programs including Camp Honey Shine, the Aspire to Shine After School program, the annual College Tour and several other special projects throughout the year. Honey Shine, Inc recently expanded its reach by mentoring young girls in select schools in Los Angeles, CA, and Dallas, TX.
