19 Jun Truth In Reality Announces Tracy Wilson Mourning as the Newest Member of its Board of Directors
NEW YORK, NY– Truth in Reality, a non-profit media advocacy organization founded to change the depiction of women of color in media, especially on violent reality television with the ultimate goal of reducing the cultural acceptance of gender-based violence in the Black community, proudly announces Tracy Wilson Mourning as the newest member of its Board of Directors.
Tracy Wilson Mourning is a mentor, designer, broadcast journalist, motivational speaker, soon-to-be published author, loving mother and wife to NBA All-Star Alonzo Mourning. Ms. Wilson Mourning is a graduate of Howard University where she majored in Broadcast journalism and minored in Business. Co-founder of Honey Child by Tracy Wilson Mourning, she currently holds the title of CEO of this brand of bath and body products.
In addition to her entrepreneurial roles, much of Ms. Wilson Mourning’s life is dedicated to the enrichment of today’s youth. In 2002, she founded the Honey Shine Mentoring Program to encourage the balance of mind, body and soul in girls and young women by providing nurturing experiences that not only illuminate their paths but also inform their decisions with self-reliance and hope. In conjunction with her husband Alonzo, Ms. Wilson Mourning co-founded The Mourning Family Foundation, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) public fundraising foundation created to inspire others through advocacy, education and enrichment services. Since 1997, The Mourning Family Foundation has raised over $10 million for various programs that aid in the development of children and their families, particularly those in socioeconomically challenged communities.

As an appointed member to Truth In Reality’s Board of Directors, Ms. Wilson Mourning will work to ensure the health and success of Truth In Reality by assisting in the organization’s recruitment of potential partners and strategic alliances through her knowledge and expertise in strategic planning, fundraising, and board cultivation. Moreover, with her developed skill in being a competent and servant leader, Ms. Wilson Mourning will help to oversee all endeavors made by Truth in Reality, ensuring the efforts of the organization reach all intended persons.
