19 Jun Marla Wilson Appointed Executive Director of Honey Shine, Inc.
MIAMI, Fla. – July 11, 2014 – Tracy Wilson-Mourning’s Honey Shine Mentoring Program welcomes Marla Wilson as its new Executive Director. Wilson, the past Senior Director of the Go Red for Women campaign for the American Heart Association and Executive Director for the Miami March of Dimes, will oversee Honey Shine’s programs and services as well as development structure for all operations.
Originally from Las Vegas, Nev., Wilson holds a Bachelor’s of Communications from the University of Central Oklahoma where she studied broadcast and print journalism. Although passionate about journalism, after years in the field, she realized it was not her only calling. Having been raised by a single father, who dedicated his life to teach her the importance of diversity in culture, experience and travel, she soon became compelled to do the same.
“We are proud to have Marla Wilson as the new Executive Director of the Honey Shine Program,” said Bill Diggs, President of Mourning Family Foundation. “Having her as a new executive on my team of high performers is exciting! Our Honey Bugs (young girls) deserve the best leadership and we are confident that we have found that caliber of person in Marla. Her background in executive level management and development are much needed if Honey Shine is to reach its next level of success.”
Today, Wilson strives to make a difference in the lives of children and families in the South Florida area. Whether consulting with philanthropists on how to make a difference or actually being the driving force of change through 1 Percent Circle, the exclusive consulting group she founded to match celebrity with mission related initiatives, Wilson commits herself to the advancement of those in need.
Wilson is also the proud mother of twins, son Malik and daughter Mijani, and looks forward to becoming the loved one of young women through Honey Shine for many years to come.
