20 Jun Tracy Wilson Mourning and the Board of Honey Shine, Inc. Appoint Marla Wilson to National Executive Vice President
MIAMI, FL, March 24, 2016 – Marla Wilson, Executive Director of Honey Shine, Inc, has been appointed as National Executive Vice President of the organization effective immediately.
Wilson oversees the day-to day operations of the nonprofit organization that was founded by Tracy Wilson Mourning, wife of NBA Legend Alonzo Mourning. Honey Shine, Inc, has been instrumental in improving the lives of adolescent young girls through its “Aspire to Shine,” weekend mentoring program in Miami-Dade County, and Camp Honey Shine Summer Enrichment program hosted by the Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart in Coconut Grove, FL. Camp Honey Shine provides opportunities for girls to participate in a variety of activities including dance, arts and crafts, swimming, reading, yoga and meditation, educational field trips, and more, for six weeks during the summer. Honey Shine, Inc., recently launched the “Aspire to Shine” as an after school mentoring program in Los Angeles, CA and Dallas, TX, with plans to expand to Las Vegas, NV and Washington, D.C. The vision of the organization is to provide young girls, and women worldwide, with character development and mentoring opportunities.
Under Wilson’s leadership over the past two years, Honey Shine, Inc, has experienced tremendous growth in the organization’s elementary and high school after-school programming, as well as creating employment opportunities for programming and educational professionals in the Miami-Dade County Public Schools system. Wilson has increased corporate partnership support by 90% and spearheaded initiatives to increase Honey Shine brand presence through social media and strategic partnerships, both locally and nationally.
Wilson has a wealth of knowledge in the nonprofit sector, joining the organization from the American Heart Association, where she served as Senior Executive Director, and prior Executive Director for the Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, March of Dimes.
Wilson will be based in the Miami office of Honey Shine, Inc., and will appoint ambassadors in Los Angeles, CA and Dallas, TX to oversee programming and compliance with Honey Shine’s standards and compliance guidelines, ensuring a meaningful experience for young girls enrolled in the “Aspire to Shine” after school program.
